Shelby Lee Adkins, 78 years of age, of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Lee was born in Somerset, Kentucky on May 21st, 1944, son of the late William Virgil Adkins and Sara Lena Wells Adkins. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church of Stab, Kentucky and he enjoyed fishing, riding his ATV and traveling. He was an avid junk collector and enjoyed telling his stories to others. He cherished spending time with his family.

Lee was survived by his wife of 33 years, Orilous Harvey Adkins; one son, William Glenn (and Della) Adkins of Franklin, Ohio; one daughter, Sherry Kay (and Gordon) Campbell of Lebanon, Indiana; two step-daughters, Katrina Mae Adkins of Indianapolis, Indiana and Karleen Marie (and Robert) Lindsey of Camby, Indiana; two brothers, Charlie (and Carol) Adkins and Buel (and Phylis) Adkins, both of Indiana; one sister, Beulah of Indiana; three grandchildren, Brandon, Sarah, and Joey; two great-grandchildren, Kadin and Brenna; four step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Adkins, who departed this life on January 20th, 1997 and Sara Adkins, who departed this life on January 20th, 1974; five brothers, Lawrence Adkins, who departed this life on December 7th, 2012, John Sherman Adkins, who departed this life on April 24th, 2010, William Edward Adkins, who departed this life on September 17th, 2002, Victor Adkins, who departed this life on February 17th, 1979, and James Adkins, who departed this life on July 27th, 1977; and two sisters, Gracie Mae Adkins Whitaker, who departed this life on September 28th, 2016 and Sylvia Adkins Boggs.

Visitations were held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13th, 2022 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Will Brown and Bro. Rick Lawson officiating.
