DURANT — Martin W. Daufeldt, 80, of
Durant, died at 2 a.m. today at the
Wilton Nursing Home after a lengthy
illness. Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Griffith
Funeral Home in Wilton with the Rev.
L. Jack Ehlers, pastor of the Gloria
Dei Lutheran church, Durant, officiating.
Burial will be in the Moscow cemetery.
Born Feb. 20, 1889, in Davenport, he
was a resident here for 20 years. He
married Emma Freese Feb. 10, 1914, at
the Trinity Church in Moscow. Mr.
Daufeldt was a retired farmer and a
member of the United Church of Christ
in Wiiton.
Surviving are two sons, Harvey,
Muscatine and Alvin, Durant; five
daughters, Mrs. Paul (Louise)
Schmelzer of Pleasant Prairie, Mrs.
Glenn (Dorothy)Hermann, route 3,
Muscatine, Mrs. Alvin (Grace)
Harmsen of Bennett and Mrs. Arnold
(Eva) Alpen and Mrs. Robert (Cathryn)
Weise, both of Durant; 21 grandchildren;
and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife,
parents and four brothers.
There will be a visitation after 1 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.
