Dorothy E. Hermann, 92, of Muscatine, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Bickford Cottage in Muscatine.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services, Muscatine. Memorials may be directed to Ziegler Memorial Lutheran Church and the Unity Hospice in her memory.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, at the Ziegler Memorial Lutheran Church, Muscatine. Reverend Shelley Nelson will officiate. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, Iowa.

Dorothy Estella Daufeldt was born March 6, 1916, in Cedar County, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Freese) Daufeldt. She married Glenn C. Hermann on July 14, 1936, in Pleasant Prairie. Glenn died in 1972. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, New Era Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed gardening, baking apple pies, and listening to music. Most of all, she dearly loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Dolores (Donald) Rehms of Anaheim, CA, and Janet (Thomas) Kindler of Muscatine; two sons, Charles (Ann) Hermann of Muscatine, and Donald (Jeanne) Hermann of Moscow; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lucy Daufeldt of Durant, and Doris Boulet of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, Deborah Murphy, one great-grandson, Rock Reese, four sisters and two brothers.
