Giovanni "John" was born in Matrice, Italy. He was the 7th of 10 children of Giovanni & Maria Delzoppo. He had siblings Francesco, Michele, Angela, Incoronata, Josephine, John, Carmela, Michela, Dan & Angela who died in Italy at age 4.
He had half-siblings Josephine, Michele, Cristina & Antonio from his father's first wife Angela Cannavina who died in 1867.
John was only 12 years old when he immigrated to America arriving in New York City on April 11, 1893. He was naturalized on Oct. 20, 1902, Petition # 19751 at Court of Common Pleas, Cuyahoga County.
John was 25 when he married Jennie Maria [Giovannina] Iacobucci, she was 23, on Nov. 5, 1906 in Cleveland. They were married by William Brown, J.P. He was living at 107 Carabelli St; Jennie was living at 144 Carabelli.
He and Jennie had 11 children born between 1907 & 1922 listed above. John & Jennie were 2nd cousins. John's grandmother Maria Giuseppa Rinaldi and Jennie's great-grandfather Costanzo Rinaldi were sister & brother.
He & Jennie were living at 809 Wayside Rd. in Cleveland and had been married 43 years when she died on May 25, 1950 at home at age 67 from a heart attack. She had arteriosclerosis and diabetes for 10 years. John died 18 years later on Nov. 17, 1968 at home at age 87 from heart failure and old age and is buried at Lake View Cemetery in Sec. 5A, Lot 33, Grave 1, along with Jennie in Grave 2.
