Mary Edna Berkey was born March 30 1902, daughter of Aaron Berkey & his wife Mable Emma Lechlitner Berkey. Mary, with the help of her father Aaron Berkey, raised her nephew Charles Robert "Bob" Berkey after the death of his parents, Walter and Merdena Cripe Berkey, when Bob was only 3 years old. In October 1949 she married Vern I Harter, son of Henry Harter & his wife Mary J Dolman Harter.
