Vern I Harter, 87, a farmer who delivered farm produce for many years in Elkhart and Mishawaka, died last Wednesday evening in Fountainview Place, Elkhart.
His home was at 30228 CR 36, Wakarusa.
The native of St. Joseph County was born June 2, 1892, to Henry and Jane Dolman Harter.
He married Elsie Stickel Oct 26, 1926, ad she died Dec 28, 1946.
He then married Mary Berkey Oct 26, 1951, and she died July 25, 1971.
He was a member of the Baugo Church of the Brethren where funeral services were held Saturday morning with burial in the Olive Cemetery. The arrangements were in charge of the Lienhart Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Baugo church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Pauline B Parr, Hastings, Mich; three sons, Ivan, Wakarusa, Ralph, Dunlap, and Vernon, Jr, Wakarusa; 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Two sons preceded him in death.
