DEATH TAKES OLD RESIDENT
Mrs. Lulu Belle Latimer was taken by death in Oakland on April 8 after a long illness. Funeral services were held on Monday April 12 at the Chapel of the Oaks in Oakland.
Mrs. Latimer was the widow of the late Rev. C.B. Latimer and loving Mother of Mrs. William Field, Nina, Reed, Val, Wesley, Armand and Arden Shadduck. She was a native of Texas.
The Shadducks moved to Lake County and settled at Middletown in the early 1900s. They made their residence for many years on what is now the Heinkel ranch on Harbin road.
They raised a large family all of whom attended the local schools. Mrs. Latimer was very active in civic affairs despite her duties in raising her large family.
Some years ago she moved to Oakland, following the death of Mr. Shadduck. Later she remarried to Rev C.B. Latimer, a retired pastor who made his home in this community for a time.
Sympathy is extended to the surviving relatives of the beloved lady.
