RETIRED FARMER, WATCHMAN DIES OF INFIRMITIES

James J. Cox,82, retired Nez Perce area farmer and Clarkston mill watchman, died yesterday at 12:05 pm of infirmities of age at Tri-State Convalescent Center. He had lived at Clarkston since 1929.
Cox was caretaker for the Clarkston Community Corp, and night watchman for J.B. Lumber Co, Inc., for a number of years. He previously had farmed near Nez Perce for 21 years.
He was born July 5, 1887, in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Cox. He began farming near Nez Perce in 1900. He was married to Katie Biegert May 10, 1908, at Nez Perce. They retired from the farm in 1929 and came to Clarkston.
He had a variety of jobs around Clarkston in addition to his employment as a caretaker for the community corporation. He retired as watchman at the mill in 1956 and devoted much of his time to gardening and ohter hobbies thereafter.
His wife died April 12, 1968. He is survived by two sons, Matt Cox, Aloha, Or, and Jack A. Cox, Lewiston; and a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert Wilson, Omak, Wash; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
