Newell C. Stanley was born November 14, 1897, at Sloan, Ia., to James Jonathan and Hannah Jane (Easton) Stanley. When 3 years old he came to Dixon, NE, where he made his home and lived in the county his whole life. He married Jennie Mabel Welburn March 14, 1917, at Wayne. He was a retired farmer. He was Past Master of Laurel Masonic Lodge 248, and Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Miriam Chapter 175, and Haggai Chapter 39 RAM and was also a member of the Dixon Methodist Church.

Survivors include the widow; four sons, Leroy of Kansas City, MO., Dale of Cozad, Harold of Gladstone, Mo., and Gerald of Dixon; three daughters, Katherine Peais of Springfield, Ore., Mrs. William (Faye) Ripper of Rose Hill, Kans., and Mrs. Pete (Bonnie) Bigler of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Harry of Vallejo, Calif.; and four sisters, Mrs. Earl (Vera) Hinds of Ponca, Mrs. Bernice Lee of Merced, Calif., Pearl Scott of Wakefield, and Mildred Haines of Blaine, Minn.; 30 grandchildren; and 53 great grandchildren. Proceeding him in death were his parents: 3 brothers-in-law, brothers Willie and Leslie and a sister, Fern Haines.
