Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 30, at the Dixon Methodist church for James J. Stanley, 94, who passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Hinds, at Ponca on Saturday, January 27, after a short illness. Pallbearers were Robert, Milton, Dale and Gerald Stanley, Larry Carlson and Delmer Hinds. Honorary pallbearers were William Penlerick, Roy Johnson, Russell Ankeny, Lyle Swift, Emil Schutte, John Karlberg and Leslie Noe.

James J. Stanley was born February 22, 1867, at Sloan, Iowa. He married Hannah Easton on September 24, 1887, at Sloan. They moved to Dixon county in 1901 and farmed until his death. She passed away in 1941.

Survivors include five sons, Claude of Sioux City, Iowa, Newell of Dixon, William of Jerome, Idaho, Leslie and Harry of Vallejo, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. Bernice Carter of Merced, Calif,. Mrs. Fern Haines of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Mildred Haines of Barronett, Wisc. Mrs. Pearl Scott of Wakefield and Mrs. Earl Hinds of Ponca.
