Mrs. Stanley, the former Jennie "Mabel" Welburn, was born September 27, 1899, in Laurel to Samuel and Jennie Eldora (Stingley) Welburn,where she was raised and attended school. She married Newell Stanley March 14, 1917 at Wayne. The couple farmed their entire married life in Dixon County. He died November 2, 1981, and she moved to the Hillcrest Apartments in Laurel in 1982.
Mrs. Stanley was a member of the Mariam Chapter 175 Order of Eastern Star, Women's Society, and the Dixon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Leroy of Kansas City, MO, Dale of Cozad, Harold of Gladstone, MO, and Gerald of Dixon; three daughters, Katherine Peais of Springfield, OR, Mrs. William (Faye) Ripper of Rose Hill, KS, and Mrs. Connie (Bonnee) Biegler of Medford, OR; a sister, Mrs. Bob (Clara) Bean of Medford, OR; a half brother, Ted Welburn of Talent, OR; 30 grandchildren; 64 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
