Alfred LaBarre Died Here Monday Morning
Alfred M. (Fred) LaBarre, 66, a resident of the Fort Benton area virtually all his life, died at his home early Monday morning.
Requiem Mass was this Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic church. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
He was born in Fort Benton, Dec. 25, 1903, the son of Alfred and Rosa Ann LaBarre. His father homesteaded on the Marias in 1877, his mother living here after their marriage in 1894.
Fred grew up here, graduated from Hansens Auto Mechanical School in Fargo, North Dakota, and was employed as an auto mechanic for years, in Havre and Fort Benton, first here with his uncle in the LaBarre Garage and for many years with Power Motors. For the past 15 years he has been associated with his brother in farming. He was married to Vivian Morris in 1943 at Havre. Mr. LaBarre died in 1959.
Survivors include his brother, Alderic LaBarre, Fort Benton; three sisters, Jeannette LaBarre, Fort Benton; Mrs. Mabel Rose Merrill and Mrs. Rina Robinson, Great Falls; and nieces and nephews.
