George W. Bortner
Spring Grove – George W. Bortner, husband of Mrs. Tersie Rohrbaugh Bortner, died at 11:20 a.m. yesterday at his home, 176 North Main Street. Death followed a lingering illness. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Bortner was the son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Krebs Bortner of Codorus Township. He was a member of the Lutheran congregation of St. Jacob's (Stone) Union Church, Glenville, and of the Men's Bible class of the Sunday school. Mr. Bortner was a retired farmer. Mr. and Mrs. Bortner recently observed their 60th wedding anniversary.
Surviving, besides his wife, are: Three sons, Lewis G. Bortner, Glen Rock RD 2; Allen R. Bortner, South Main Street, and Paul R. Bortner, South Water Street; two daughters, Mrs. Harry A. Glatfelter, North Main Street, and Ellen E. Bortner, at home; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Sauter Funeral Home, North Main Street, with concluding obsequies at St. Jacob's (Stone) Church, Glenville. Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, Lutheran pastor, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Dr. Paul D. Yoder, Reformed pastor. Interment will be in the cemetery adjoining St. Jacob's Church.
