OBITUARY:
WILLIAM NELSON, 77, OF PLAINVIEW, DIES. William "Bill" Nelson, 77, Plainview, died Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Wabasha after being there one week. He had been a resident at Hillcrest Nursing and Retirement Home. He was born Nov. 28, 1893 at Plainview and was married to Isabell Gardner, August 15, 1934 and she died Ma 3, 1951. He then married Bertha Jacoby Oct. 8, 1959. She died May 15, 1967. He worked as a general farm laborer and for the telephone company. Mr. Nelson served in the U. S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the Plainview Odd Fellows in which he had received his 50 year pin. Survivors are: three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Osborn, Plainview, Mrs. Oliver (Dorothy) Anderson, Minneapolis and Mrs. Irene Grout, Lincoln, Neb. and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Schriver Chapel, Plainview, with the Rev. John Greene officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Plainview. Military rites will be conducted by the Plainview American Legion Post. Pallbearers are Ralph Edwards, Kenneth Briggs, Walter Baldwin, Vince King, Herbert Marshman and Kenneth Stocker.
