OBITUARY:
JOHN NELSON DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS John Nelson, a well known resident of Plainview for the past thirty-five years, passed away at his home on the corner of Church and Mechanic streets at 5:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 18th. The cause of his death was heart trouble. For some time he had been afflicted with high blood pressure. Deceased was born in Smoulden County, Sweden, July 5, 1856. When a boy of fourteen he came to America and after a short stay at LaCrosse, Wis. came to Minneiska. After his marriage to Hannah Jacoby at Wabasha on March 16, 1886, he operated a farm near Minneiska for two years and then moved to Plainview where he has since made his home. He was the father of twelve children, three of whom, John, Hazel, and Edward preceeded him in death. Those of his family who survive and morn his loss are his wife, two sons, William and George, at home, and seven daughters, Mrs. Hattie Leininger of Turtle Lake, Wis., Mrs. Henry Osborne of Plainview, Mrs. William Elliott of St. Paul, Mrs. Bert Olson of Millville, and Mary, Dorothy and Irene at home. There are also twenty-one grandchildren. Since his residence in Plainview, Mr. Nelson has been employed in various occupations. He has always been industrious and was continually occupied until the past few when his health interfered with his work. He was a man of greatest integrity and one who readily found employment for his services. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock and burial was made in Evergreen cemetery at Minneiska. Rev. I. N. Godell, paster of the M. E. church of this city had charge of the service.
