Raymond's obituary read: "Raymond Russell Ross, 58, of 513 Chandler Street, died unexpectedly at 2 P.M. Tuesday (August 13, 1953) at Lakeview Memorial Hospital. He had been ill three years. He was born May 24, 1905, in Sidney, the son of Irvin and Leona Brown Ross. Mr. Ross worked at the Hegeler Zinc Company for several years and worked as an attendant at the Veterans Administration Hospital since 1945. In 1929, he was married to Ella T. Wright in Danville. Mr. Ross attended Lincoln Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Wayne and Michael, both of Danville; four step-children, Lloyde, Lowell, Mrs. Thelma Rogers, all of Danville and Mrs. Norma Russell of Crown Point, Indiana; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Epperson of Danville and Mrs. Opal Stevens of Catlin; a brother, Lilbert of Catlin; four grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and on great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
The body is at the Pape Memorial Home for services at 1:30 P.M. Friday. The Rev. Edgar Houldridge will officiate, with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sidney. Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Thursday."
