Goldie F. Grigsby was born on May 12, 1920, in Butler County, NE to Lemuel J. and Etta Mae (Smith) Brandenburgh and passed away on November 9, 2013, in Seward, NE; at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 28 days. Goldie attended country school near Bellwood, Silver Creek and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1940. She married John Paul Grigsby on February 19, 1941 at the Seward United Methodist Church parsonage. The couple lived their entire married life in Seward. Goldie worked at Hughes Brothers during W.W.II then returned there in 1968 working the Boring Department until 1975. She then worked with John at Grigsby Bicycle and Repair Service until it closed. Goldie was a lifelong member of the Seward United Methodist Church. Goldie is survived by her three sons, Dr. Donald Grigsby and wife Judith of Columbus, GA; Dale "Nigel" Grigsby of Minneapolis, MN; and Thomas Grigsby of Seward, NE; two grandchildren, Eric and Christie Grigsby and Rebecca and Randy Banks, four great-grandchildren, Kayla Grigsby, John Paul Grigsby, James Braden Grigsby, Anderson Banks, sister, Thelma "Babe" Peters and husband Don of Bellwood, NE; two brothers Jim and wife Delores Brandenburgh of Arlington, TX; Charles "Chas" 'C.W." and wife Lila Brandenburgh of Bellwood, NE; two sisters-in-law Evelyn Brandenburgh of Seward, NE; Peggy Brandenburgh of CA; sister-in-law Gwendolyn Grigsby of Milford, NE; Myrtle Grigsby of St. Petersburg, FL; nieces and nephews Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, husband John on April 17, 2004. daughter-in-law LeAnn Grigsby, four brothers Richard and wife Marlene Brandenburgh, Lemuel "Buck" Brandenburg, Robert Brandenburgh and Ron and wife LaRue Brandenburgh, brothers-in-law Everett "Ted" Grigsby, Thomas Grigsby, sisters-in-law Margaret and Ollis Eaton, Ruth and Bill Baumbach, Russell and Alma Sexton Inez and George McCrary. Signing of the Remembrance Book will be on Thursday, November 14, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Zabka Funeral Home. Closed casket funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2013, at Seward United Methodist Church with Pastor Dale Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at Seward Cemetery. Memorials contributions to the Grigsby family for later designation.
