James M. Brandenburgh, passed away at his home of forty-eight years in Arlington, Texas, surrounded by family on Wednesday May, 31, 2023.

James "Jim" Brandenburgh was born on June 8, 1935 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska. He grew up in Nebraska with six brothers and three sisters.

He met his wife, Delores at a railroad track in David City, Nebraska when they were 15 and 16 years old. James and Delores celebrated marriage on August 11, 1953 and have been married ever since.

James graduated from Bellwood High School in Nebraska and worked in Osceola, Nebraska while serving in the United States Navy Reserve. He transition to full-time active duty for the United States Navy in 1953. James served his country for 22 years as an Air Controlman and retired as a Chief Petty Officer, E7 while stationed in Detroit, Michigan.

James, his wife, Delores and their sons Jimmy, Brad and Doug moved to Arlington, Texas in 1975 where James spent over 20 years working for the Social Security Office in Fort Worth, Texas. James retired in 1997 after 43 years of loyal service for the United States government.

James was an incredible man. He was a great father, an even better husband and a caring grandfather and great-grandfather who loved to travel and be with family. He visited England, Germany, Italy, Ireland and other places around the world with his family and rarely missed the opportunity for summers in Florida or skiing in Colorado.

He seized every opportunity to spend with family – be it breakfast after church, dumplings during the holidays, the chalkboard on birthdays or just a day of sports and BBQ by the pool.

James will be sorely missed and is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Delores; their three sons Jimmy, Brad and wife Janet, Doug and wife Tammy; grandchildren Bryan, Blake, Chelsea and husband Mike, Alex, Kyle and wife Lauren; great-grandchildren Palmer, Beckett and Crawford; step-granddaughter Ashley and husband Bill and great-grandchildren Will and Kate; sister Thelma Peters and husband Don Peters.

James was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, two sisters and our beloved Chase.
