Nancy was born in Kentucky and moved to Missouri when she was about seven years old. She is on the 1850 census for Tebo Township, Henry County, Missouri with her sister Melissa and mother Nancy. Also listed in this census is Robert W. Humphries with his wife and 2 daughters. Robert is believed to be an older brother. Brother Burton was in Oro City in the Nicholaus Vicinity of Sutter County, California in the 1850 census. He was a laborer and the only person in the household. Nancy came across the plains in 1853 by wagon train with her mother Nancy Wheatley Humphrey, older sister Melissa Jane and brother Burton,(did he return to Missouri and get them) and settled near Marysville. On Oct. 15 1854 she married Vincent Lorenzo Henderson in Marysville. They lived near Wheatland until 1871 when they started north to Paskenta. She died of measles at the Mitchell ranch just 12 days after the birth of her daughter Nancy Elizabeth in Paskenta, CA. Her father, Benjamin Humphrey is believed to have died while crossing the plains.
