Ambrose was the 3rd child of 7 born to Margaret "Maggie" (O'brien) and Patrick Lavelle.

James Patrick 1874 ~ 1947
Cecilia Francis 1875 ~ 1942
Ellen "Nellie" 1877 ~ 1932
Agnes Tresea 1879 ~ 1970
He came by railroad with his family to Billings (1882) and then on to Columbus in 1885. His family built and ran the Hotel Lavelle there. Ambrose, his Dad and brother Jim also raised cattle until his Dad's death in 1912.
He never married and had no known children.
