Mr. Henry Wilburn Vanhoy, 85, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Britthaven of Kernersville. Mr. Vanhoy was born in Forsyth County on Nov. 17, 1921, the son of the late Arthur Swain and Annie Blanche Fulp Vanhoy. Mr. Vanhoy served with Company "B" 330 Infantry in the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing combat in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He was awarded the EAME service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal for his service. After World War II, he returned to the family farm where he spent the rest of his working years raising tobacco and product for market. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, Herbert, Demis and Curtis; and two sisters, Ida Norman and Aline Lankford. Surviving are his brother, Fred Vanhoy of Kernersville; sisters Edith Voss of Belews Creek and Elizabeth Douglas, Treva Williams and Vennie Speaks, all of Kernersville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Chapel in Kernersville, with the Rev. Mervin Garrison and the Rev. Joe Pizzino officiating.
