Brooklet - James R. Minick, 61, died Monday at Bulloch Memorial Hospital after a short illness. The Bulloch County native was a veteran of the United States Army, had worked at Transoil Company and retired from the Bulloch County Correctional Institution. He was a member of the United Coon Hunters Club and the Brooklet First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jeanne Minick, Brooklet; three sons, Roland Minick and Tracy Minick, both of Brooklet, and Bryant Minick, Statesboro; two sisters, Ruth Smith and Louise Sutton, both of Savannah; two brothers, Obed Minick and Glenist Minick, both of Statesboro; and one granddaughter.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery.
