Mr. Obed Jeru Minick, Sr., age 87, died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1944 graduate of Brooklet High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Obed was a retired farmer and worked with the Bulloch County Board of Education for over 15 years in the maintenance department. He was a life member of the Georgia Farm Bureau and an active member of the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and clerk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Ethel Minick.

The family would like to express their gratitutde to Drs. Randy Smith, Lisa Robinson, Stanley Shin and Andrew Cichelli.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Ernestine Fordham Minick of Middleground; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeru and Gina Minick of Statesboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and David Raith of Brooklet, Joyce and Gary Donaldson of Brooklet and Wanda and Earl Miller of Statesboro; nine grandchildren, Jed Minick, Ruthie Minick, Calk Minick, Chad (Ansley) Raith, Mindy (Lee) Brown, Clayton Donaldson, Lacie Donaldson, Monica (Kevin) Dent, Sheldon (Casey) Miller and Heather (James) Owens; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Smith of Savannah.

The visitation will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jack Anderson and Elder Rick Stewart officiating.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Jones, Dale Smith, Dennis Lucas, Wade Hodges, David Hendrix and Casey Hendrix. Honorary
pallbearers will be deacons and ministers of area associations.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 1520 Mallard Pond Rd., Statesboro, GA 30461.
