DR. GEO. BOWMAN OF IRWIN, DIES
Dr. George Bowman, 60 years old, for more than 34 years a practicing physician of Irwin, vice president of the Irwin Savings and Trust company since its organization, died at 8:20 o'clock last night in the Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness of pneumonia. Dr. Bowman's death occurred after influenza, which he contracted last Saturday, developed into pneumonia. He was taken to the Mercy Hospital last Tuesday. He was born on August 2, 1874, at Irwin the son of W. F. and Mary Irwin Bowman. He attended Irwin public schools and was graduate from the Irwin High School in 1893. Following his graduation he attended Worcester College and was graduated from the University of Michigan medical school in 1901. He has been practicing medicine in Irwin ever since that time. In addition to holding the vice presidency of the Irwin Savings and Trust company since its organization, he was a director of the Irwin Cemetery Association and organizations. Surviving are these brothers and sisters: Miss Laura Bowman, of Pennsylvania Ave., Irwin, with whom he made his home; Rev. Dr. E.M. Bowman, of Brownsville; Rev. Dr. W. Scott Bowman of Uniontown; John Bowman of Cresson; Mrs. George W. Fink of Irwin; and Mrs. Gertrude Withrow, of Irwin. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Bowman home in Pennsylvania avenue, Irwin, with his pastor, Rev. Samuel Blacker in charge. Private interment will be conducted in the Irwin Union cemetery at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon.
