Funeral services for Rev. Winfield Scott Bowman, who died in the Uniontown hospital at 4 o'clock Friday morning, after an illness of a few days with double pneumonia, was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Second Presbyterian church, Uniontown, of which he was pastor for many years. The body lay in state in the church from 11 to 2 o'clock. Rev. Bowman's early life was spent in Irwin and during his pastorate held charges in Brownsville and Uniontown. He was 76 years of age and had retired from the active ministry and at the time of his death was superintendent of Redstone Presbytery. He was taken ill upon returning home from Uniontown. His illness was pronounced pneumonia, Wednesday. Rev. Bowman was graduated from the Wooster, Ohio College, and the Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Margaret Wick Bowman; two sons, Rev. Karl Bowman, Belleville, Pa., and Dr. John Bowman, professor of the New Testament at the Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh. He is also survived by two brothers, Rev. Edwin M. Bowman, Brownsville, and John Bowman, Cresson, and three sisters, Laura Bowman, Mrs. George W. Fink and Mrs. Gertrude Withrow, all of Irwin, and five grandchildren.
