Miss Laura E. Bowman died at 12:40 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at her home, 300 Pennsylvania avenue, Irwin. Born Sept 6, 1857 in Johnstown, she would have been 97 years old next September. Reportedly the oldest resident of Irwin, she had lived in the borough almost her entire life.
Miss Bowman was a daughter of the late W. S. and Mary Jane Irwin Bowman. She was the last surviving charter member of the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. George W. Fink, of Pennsylvania avenue, Irwin. She was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters: Rev. Edwin M Bowman, of Brownsville; Rev. W. Scott Bowman, of Uniontown; John I Bowman, of Media; Dr.. George Bowman, of Irwin; Mrs. Anna Martin, of Latrobe; and mrs. Gertrude A Witherow, of Irwin.
Friends will be received at the Bowma family home after 2 o'clock this afternoon. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in charge of her pastor, Rev. Flanigan, D.D. Interment will be in Irwin Union Cemetery.
