Clarence Leroy Baxter, 59, member of a pioneer Humboldt county family, died this morning in a local hospital. He was born July 15, 1900, in Hydesville.

He had been employed ie. the lumber industry most of his life and had worked for the Pacific Lumber Company and the Hammond Lumber Company. He retired three years ago. He was a member of the Lumberman's Union, Local 3006.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Annie Baxter; daughter Martha Ann Baxter, Eureka; sons, Riley Baxter, Eureka; James Leroy Baxter, Sonoma; sister, Mrs. Flossie Bailey, Fortuna; brothers; Ernest Baxter, San Francisco; Ray Baxter, Rio Dell, and John Baxter, Scotia.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from Sanders Funeral Home. Interment will be in the family plot of the Hydesville cemetery.
