He resided in Mt. Crawford for thirty years and moved to the Friedens Church community seven years ago. He was engaged in farming.
On Dec. 20, 1917, he was united in marriage to Miss Virgie Parker, who survives him. Mr. and Mrs. Baker would have celebrated their 39th wedding Anniversary, yesterday.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. M. T. (Juanita) Pirkey, Fishersville; Mrs. R. L. (Nellie) Losh, Bridgewater: Miss Ruby Jean Baker, at home, and Mrs. Ruth Irene Baker, stationed in Florida with the Air Force; two sons, Jacob E. Baker, Waynesboro and John D. Baker, of Mt. Crawford; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. W. J. Diehl and Mrs. I. H. Hulvey, both of Mt. Crawford; a brother, C. S. Baker, of Harrisonburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at eleven o’clock from the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, at Mt. Crawford, of which he was a member, with his pastor, the Rev. R. C. Messner in charge of the services, assisted by the Rev. L. O. Carbaugh. Burial will be in the Mt. Crawford Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be, Frank B. Wise, Fred H. Will, Dr. J. S. Meyerhoeffer, Clifton G. Miller, Harry R. Kaylor, John A. Miller, C. C. Rosen and Claude W. Craun.
The body is at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg where it will remain until 9:30, Saturday morning, when it will be taken to the church. Relatives will meet at the Baker residence, Saturday morning at 10:30 where a brief service will be held. Friends and pallbearers will meet at the church Saturday morning at 10:45.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and asks that Memorial contributions be send instead to the Women’s Guild of the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church. Relatives will be at the Lindsey Funeral Home Friday evening from 7:30 to 8:30 to receive their friends.
