James Bernard Cameron of Staples passed away at St. Mary's hospital in Duluth, Dec. 23, after a few hours of illness.
He was born July 6, 1921 at Crosby, Minn., and grew up and attended school in Aldrich. Cameron joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, serving in World War II and during the Korean conflict.
Upon returning from the Navy he joined the Los Angeles Police Force retiring in 1966 after 20 years of service.
Survivors are his wife, Norma of Puposky; two sons, James with the Seabees at Gulf Port, Miss.; Franklin, Berkeley. Calif.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Cameron of Aldrich; four brothers, Loren, Staples; Donald, Aldrich; Jerome, Ogedensburg, N.Y.; David, Spring Lake Park; two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Wutzke (Theresa) Verndale; and Mrs. Herbert Domeno (Pearl) of Hawthorne, Calif.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Franklin, and one sister, Harriet.
Final rites were held Dec. 27, a the Belling Funeral Chapel in Staples with Rev. Camilus officiating, interment in the Catholic cemetery at Aldrich.
Casket bearers were Maurice Lynch, Edward Lynch, Joe Colianni, John Freidli, Jr., James Rangaard and Sam St. Pierre.
