Orla Arlene Powell, 77, Fairfax, Va., formerly of Luverne, died Thursday, April 4, 2011, at Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax.

Orla Aanenson was born Aug. 4, 1933, to Ole and Otellia Aanenson.

On Jan. 5, 1953, she married William Powell. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, playing bridge, entertaining friends and exercising at the gym.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her husband, William Powell, Fairfax; two children, Kathy (Don) Brock, Longmeadow, Mass., and Julie (John) Fitzgerald, Oak Hill, Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, John (Gloria) Aanenson, Luverne, and Howard (Lavennell) Aanenson, Pipestone; two sisters, Romona Skidmore, Spooner, Wis., and JoAnn (Gary) Barmore, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ellen Aanenson, Luverne; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Thelma Bonnett, Alfie Brandenburg, Olga Brandenburg, Alma Ellsworth and Norma Zimmerman; and two brothers, Orville and Norman Aanenson.
