JAMES H. HALLS
James Henry Halls, son of James J. and Anna Tippett Halls, was born April 20, 1890, at Lucas, Iowa and passed away at the Harkin Clinic in Osceola, Feb. 23, 1963, at the age of 72 years, ten months and three days.
He was reared near Lucas and attended school there. He was a member of the Lucas Methodist church.
He was united in marriage to Margaret I. Campbell, May 1, 1918. To this union three children were born: Margaret Louise, Evelyn Mae and James Lyle.
He spent his life farming in Lucas, Wayne, Clarke and Decatur counties until three years ago when they moved to Weldon.
His health had failed the past few months, but he never complained. He was always thoughtful and considerate of others and gave a helping hand as long as his health permitted. He will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Thomas E., William H. and Edward B. Halls.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, daughters, Mrs. Donald (Louise) Stark of Lucas, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Dooley of Ames, and a son, James of Garden Grove; two sons-in-law and a daughter-in-law, five granddaughters, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Foster of Butte, Mont., and Mrs. Janie Allen of Lucas, and a brother, Albert J. Halls of Derby, an number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1963, at 2 p.m. at the Weldon Methodist church. Elder Edward Stark of Lamoni officiated with interment in the Fry Hill cemetery near Lucas.
