In the Battles of Aisne-Marne, Vesle, St. Mihiel, Meuse Argonne, and Toulon, he served in Germany and France. Discharged August 15, 1919, at Camp Sherman, Chillicothe, OH, he was later a schoolteacher, oil company bookkeeper and internal bank auditor in Elizabeth, WV. Five feet, seven inches tall, with brown hair, gray eyes and a ruddy complexion.
