Vestal Sharp, age 84 of Lake City passed away Feb. 20 at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born Aug. 24, 1920 in Briceville to the late Walter Lee and Cora Hawkins Sharp. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a World War II veteran who loved whittling, gardening and singing.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walter Lee, Jr. and Bufford Sharp; sister, Anna Lour Bray; granddaughter, Amanda Foust.He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Faye Marie Cox Sharp of Lake City; sons, Walter Sharp and wife, Nancy of Lake City, Michael Sharp and wife, Margaret of Lake City; daughters, Joyce Phillips and husband, Charlie of Sylvania, OH; Angela Colston of Lake City, Iva Davis of Briceville; brothers, Richard and Faye Sharp of Lake City, Verlin and Bonnie Sharp of Lake City, Roy and Joyce Sharp of Lake City; sisters, Evelyn Austin of Lake City, Margaret and Ralph Davis of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; special friends, Sammy Miles and Mack Wilson both of Briceville; a host of other family and friends.Funeral services were Feb. 22 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Archie Seiber, Jesse Lawson and Rev. R.C. Seiber officiating. Interment was in the Leach Cemetery. Hatmaker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
