Elsie C. Starken Wolner, 93, of Biwabik died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Essentia Health - Northern Pines Medical Center in Aurora.

She was born March 27, 1927, in Red Lake Falls, Minn. to Eli and Annie Boutain. On Feb. 26, 1946 she married Tony Starken. Following his death, she married James Wolner on March 16, 1970.

Elsie worked as a custodian for the Hoyt Lakes Post Office and was a homemaker. Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Barb) Starken of Aurora, Gary (Jeanne) Starken of Aurora, Todd (Teri) Starken-Wolner of Centerville, David Wolner of Hoyt Lakes, Jerry (Eilene) Wolner of Michigan, Richard (Shelle) Wolner of Michigan and Barney (Joan) Wolner of Alaska, 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, brother, Harvey, sister, Lucille, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Tony and James, nine brothers, Emil, Elmer, Herman, Edward, Andrew, Willard, Ralph, Dale and Ray, sisters, Mamie and Madeline, grandchild, Sheena

A prayer service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home in Aurora with the Rev. Frank Perkovich officiating. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in St. James, Minn.
