Julious Edward "Ed" Conley , 72, of Petersburg, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at McGuire Veterans Hospital.
He was a son of the late Loretta Frazier and Zechariah Conley .
Mr. Conley retired from Southside Candy Company in Petersburg and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean War. He was one of the few survivors of Co. H 19th Inf. Reg. 24th Div., after the battle for Chosan Reservoir, and Pork Chop Hill, N. Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart twice for wounds received during these conflicts and was also awarded four Bronze Battle Stars. He served in Korea from 1950 to 1951.
Mr. Conley was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Vivian H. Conley ; a son, Gregory Conley of Dinwiddie; a brother, Isaac Jacob Conley Sr. of Elkton; three sisters, Thelma C. Hensley of Elkton, Frances C. Hudson of Petersburg, and Florene C. Hensley of McGaheysville; and several nieces and nephews.
The Rev. Ron Sowers will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Friday in the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
