Billy's parents were Benjamin Lambeth/Lambert and Liza Ward. His paternal grandfather was Benjamin Lambeth/Lambert; his paternal grandmother's name is unknown. His paternal great-grandparents probably were Benjamin Lambeth and Ary Faulk of Columbus County, NC.

He was a nephew of Phillip Ralston Lambert
