Tuesday, January 5, 1965

REGINA A. KUMM

Regina Arvilla Everett, daughter of John and Margaret A. Everett, was born March 5, 1870 at Danville, Penn., and passed away at Indianola, Iowa Wednesday morning, December 30, 1964 at 9:15 at the age of 94 years, nine months and 25 days. When a small child she moved with her parents to Chariton, Iowa where she received her education.

On January 15, 1890, she was united in marriage to Herman F. Kumm at Omaha, Nebr. They lived in Omaha for three years and then moved to Chariton where she lived the major portion of her life. To this union were born nine children, all of whom are living except Stella Mae who died in infancy.

Survivors are Mrs. Herman (Rosa) Bennett of Casper, Wyo.; Mrs. Sherman (Maye) Sorrell, Washington; Mrs. Ruth Mundell, Des Moines; Mrs. Louis (Anna) Hintermeister, Davenport; Everett Kumm, Reasnor; Mrs. Dorothy Hastings, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Joe (Margaret) Stoneking, Evansville, Wyo.; and John Kumm, Indianola; 24 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Louis Hintermeister and Joe Stoneking; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. John (Leona) Kumm; two nephews and one niece.

Mrs. Kumm's husband passed away in 1918 leaving her with the four younger children to raise. Through these years she was always a devoted and loving mother as well as a friend to everyone in her neighborhood. She was a member of the Methodist Church and the W.C.T.U.

During the last year of her life, Mrs. Kumm spent some of her time with Ruth, John and in the Indianola Nursing Home.

In addition to her husband and infant daughter, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers and four great-grandchildren. She was the last survivor of the John and Margaret Everett union.

Services were held Saturday, January 2, 1965 at the Miley Chapel conducted by the Rev. James Diehl of the Indianola Church of the Nazarene. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
