Another veteran of the Civil War has been summoned from life's activities in the death of JOHN EVERETT, which occured on Sunday last. He was born in Berkes County, Pennsylvania, December 21, 1828, removing to Danville, that state, with his parents, when quite young. In early manhood he was there married to MARGARET ST. CLAIR -- 1n 1860. To this union were born eight children, the oldest, JOHN C. dying in infancy. The others are MRS. D.J. NICHOLS, of Rock Island, Ill; H.A. of Palestine, Texas; J.S. of Greenley, Neb; MRS. ARVILLA KUMM, of Chariton; MRS. NORA NICHOLS, of Ottumwa, S.D.; MRS. MAE VONKUTZELVEN of Burlington, and J.E. of Des Moines.
He enlisted in the 210th Pennsylvania regiment in 1864. After the war he moved to Clay City, Illinios, and from there to Brooklyn, Illinois. In 1873, he came to Chariton where he remained a citizen until the day of his death.
