Statesboro - Jesse Willard Ward, 64, died Sunday at his home after a long illness. The Bulloch County native was a veteran of World War II and was a retired surveyor and engineer. He was a member of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and Brooklet First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Sheffield Ward of Statesboro; a daughter, Mrs. Gail Dellinger of Cleveland; two sons, Joe Ward of New York and Gary Ward of Caliornia; his father, Carrey Hudson Ward of Brooklet; three brothers, Johnny Ward of Brooklet, Herman Ward of Savannah and Albert Ward of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lee DeVoe, Mrs. Gladys Sowell and Mrs. Bonnie Fay Holland, all of Savannah, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bachman of Brunswick and Mrs. Betty Waine of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Smith-Tillman Mortuary in Statesboro, burial in Brooklet City Cemetery.
