Brooklet - Jack Dempsey Ward, 57, died Wednesday at his home in Savannah after a short illness. The native of Bulloch County had lived in Savannah for the past 35 years and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He was employed by the W.H. Howard Construction Company and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Jack L. Ward of Bloomingdale and Michael C. Ward of Savannah; a daughter Mrs. Joseph F. Murphy Jr. of Savannah; his father, C. W. Ward of Brooklet; five sisters, Mrs. Ted DeVoe, Mrs. J.C. Sowell and Mrs. James Holland, all of Savannah, Mrs. Sim Bachman of Brunswick and Mrs. William Wayne of Tampa Fla.; four brothers, Bullard Ward of Statesboro, Johnny Ward of Faulkville, Albert Ward of Tampa, Fla. and Herman Ward of Savannah; and two grandchildren.
