Funeral service for Henry Sayler, 93, Wishek was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 10, 1988 in the United Church of Christ in Wishek with Rev. Herbert Zimmerman officiating. He died Wednesday, October 5, 1988 at the Wishek Community Hospital.

Henry Sayler was born January 21, 1895 on the family farm home northwest of Wishek to Fred and Christina (Werner) Sayler. He attended the local rural school where he received his elementary education and grew to manhood in the vicinity where he helped on the farm. On March 25, 1918 Mr. Sayler married Fredricka Gall at Napoleon. They made their home on his parents' farm where they helped farm. He was inducted into the United States Army on May 25, 1918 and served in France where he was gassed and was hospitalized in France for two months, being discharged in March 1919 when he returned to Wishek. They farmed with his parents until 1943 when they moved into Wishek where he did carpenter work. His wife died in 1972. On March 1974 he married Maggie Salzer at Ashley and they made their home in Wishek. She died in March 1982. He continued to reside in Wishek.

He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Association of Commerce, The Tri-County Fair Board, and the Fred Kelle American Legion Post #87, all of Wishek.

He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Ida) Klein, Sacramento, CA, Bertha Rieger and Martha Acherman, both of Wishek.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, six brothers and four sisters.

Interment was in the Wishek City Cemetery at Wishek. Arrangements were by the Haut Funeral Home of Wishek.
