Rev. Ansel Center, 84, of Kings Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
He was born in Greenville County, S.C., January 15, 1926 , to the late Ansel M. Center Sr., and the late Necie Howard Center.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Rev. Center pastored three churches during his ministry; Highland Avenue Baptist Church, in Greer, S.C., Piedmont Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and Mount Whitaker in Blacksburg, S.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Wooten Center; brothers, Doynell and Esley Center, Aleander, Milton and Wilton Sudduth; sisters, Gaynell Turner and Ruby Rogers.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James and Brenda Center of Landrum, S.C., Daniel and Judy Center of Kings Mountain; daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Keith Gosnell of Landrum, S.C; brothers, Earl Center of Spencerville, MD, Ellis Center of Landrum, S.C.; sisters, Joyce Strange and Teresa Williams both of Landrum, S.C; seven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Independent Baptist Tabernacle in Dallas.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Independent Baptist Tabernacle officiated by the Rev. Ralph Carver.
Interment will be in Independent Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Independent Baptist Tabernacle, 2128 Dallas-Cherryville Highway, Dallas, NC 28034.
Arrangements are with Greene Funeral Service - West Chapel, Gastonia.
