Melvin (Red) Mayer, 60, of R. 2, Elkhart Lake, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at his home of an apparent heart attack. Born on Sept. 26, 1909 in the Town of Rhine, he was a son of the late Adolph and Anna Pfingsten Mayer. He attended the district school in Rhine. On June 5, 1943 he married the former Inez Feldmann of Elkhart Lake in the Town of Russell. Mr. Mayer was employed by Wolf Trucking Co. of Elkhart Lake and later Gilson Bros. Co. of Plymouth. He was a member of Community United Church of Christ, Elkhart Lake.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Miss Einale; at home; one brother, Elmer, Sheboygan, and one sister, Mrs. Elmer Anhalt, rural Kiel. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
