Jewell Halstead Cochran, 92, of Liberty died Oct. 12, 2002, in Jackson General Hospital, Ripley. She was born March 16, 1910, in Putnam County, daughter of the late Lloyd and Ida Bailey Halstead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry; and two children. Jewell was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to all. She is survived by her five sons, Harry Junior of Sissonville, Curtis and Dorsel of Kenna, Marvin of Liberty, Dennis of Ripley; two daughters, Marcelene Starcher of Liberty, Glennis Farmer of Sissonville; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; brother, Reno Halstead of Cross Lanes; sisters, Frankie Thompson of Cleveland, Ohio, Glenna Nell Powers of Fort Myers, Fla.
