Son of Jacob and Elizabeth Warren Holland. Married Susan M. (Perkins) Lamb on November 27, 1852 in Buchanan County, Missouri. They had three daughters, Martha F., b1856, Louisa/Louise, b1862, and Florence Minervia, b1867.
Benjamin joined CO A, 4th Regiment of the Missouri State Militia Cavalry as a Second Lieutenant and ranked out as a First Lieutenant. He later joined CO F, 35th Regiment, Missouri Infantry and ranked out as a Full Captain on May 1, 1863. Mustered out on June 28, 1865. He was a Union sympathizer.

Looking at the 1850 Census it seems that Susan M. Lamb was first married to a John Lamb and she is living with her father, Reuben Perkins, and son John Lamb. A marriage record for Susan Perkins and John Lamb, Buchanan Co., MO, Feb 21, 1847.
