Edith Geneve CLEVENGER, 2027 N. Old Highway 31, Rochester, died at 1:54 a.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Hospital.
Born in Richland Township, Fulton County, to Clinton and Wilnettie McCLURE ALDERFER, she married Charles Walter CLEVENGER, Sr. Feb. 17, 1924 in St. Joseph, Mich. He died Dec. 12, 1979.
Mrs. Clevenger was a homemaker. An area resident most of her life, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 70, Evergreen Rebekah Chapter 57, both of Rochester, and past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.
Survivors include one son, Charles Walter CLEVENGER, Jr. and wife Frances, Rochester; two grandchildren, Charlann CARSON and husband Chris, Peru; Gary Robert CLEVENGER and wife Debra, Rochester; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren; one sister, Louetta MARTENS, Macon, Ga.
Preceding in death with her husband were her parents, five sisters, Glen, Mable, Florence, Alta and an infant, five brothers, Lester "Pood," Carl, Vern, Ralph and Lee ALDERFER.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. Ed CLARK officiating. Burial is at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home or one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
