Columbia - Services for LaDelle Bouknight Oxley, 87, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Irmo, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo. Serving as active pallbearers will be Ron Bartholomew, Steve Bouknight, Jeffery Bouknight, Danny Koon, Frank Bouknight, Jr. and Randy Epting. Ms. Oxley died Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Born on August 1, 1923 in Irmo, she was a daughter of the late W.T. (Joby) and Carrie Derrick Bouknight. She worked at both Berry's on Main and Lourie's Department stores. After retiring she became a greeter at the Harbison Wal-Mart for 18 years. She spent her remaining years at Heritage at Lowman and was known and recognized by many as "Miss Wal-Mart". All of her friends and family will miss her smiling face and sparkling blue eyes. Surviving are her grandson, Marion Brown (Heather); great-grandchildren, Shirley Caroline and Cade Brown all of Summerville, SC; four brothers, D. Pat Bouknight (Patricia), Jimmy Bouknight (Evelyn) and Donald Bouknight (Faye) all of Irmo and Frank Bouknight (Ruby) of Little Mountain; and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Shirley Bartholomew; her sister, Perma Epting and brother-in-law, Elon; brother, Ray Boukinight and sister-in-law, Lib; and brother, Cromer Bouknight. The family would like to thank the staffs of the Haltiwanger Building and Adrian Wing at the Lowman Home and Lutheran Hospice for LaDelle's excellent care.
