Fred Baer, Sr., St. Nazianz, died June 6, 1953 at the County Hospital following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. The Rev. Frederick Dorn will officiate. Burial will be in St. Nazianz cemetery.
Fred Baer was born in Germany Nov. 26, 1872. He came to this country at the age of 15 and lived with his brother Karl in New Jersey for 2 years. When he was 17 he came to St. Nazianz, Wisconsin. On May 19, 1895, he married Miss Mary Niederprum at St. Gregory's Church. He farmed about two miles from the village. His wife died in 1932. He lived in the village for the past 15 years. He was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. William (Theresa) Merkes, Elwood Park, Ill; Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Binversie, Kiel, Route 1; Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Escher, New Holstein; Mrs. Arthur (Rose) Stein, Newton, Route 1, Mrs. Linlie (Anne) York, Riverside, Ill.; and Mrs. Emil (Hildegard) Lulloff, Manitowoc Route 3; three sons, Henry and Fred, both of St. Nazianz, and Joseph, of Irvington, N.J.; and 57 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, John, in 1950.

-he moved to the Siver Lake area of Wisconsin to work on a farm for his second cousin, Joseph Maurer. He cleared trees, brush and stones for farmland. Fred arrived in the St. Nazianz area in 1889
-married Mary Julia Niederprum on May 19, 1897, settling about 2 miles northwest of St. Nazianz in the town of Eaton.
–farmer in Town of Eaton –on Nov. 15, 1898 purchased an 80 acre farm in the E1/2 of the NW1/4 of Section 23, Town of Eaton from his in-laws Henry and Julianna Niederprum
–on Jan. 9, 1908 purchased the 40 acre farm at 19204 County C in Section 23, Town of Eaton –owned this farm until selling to his son Henry Baer on March 31, 1932, which was just after his wife's death on March 7, 1932 and just before the marriage of his son Henry to Hattie Meyer on April 26, 1932 – on Jan. 28, 1911 purchased the 80 acre Joseph Holzer farm centered at 19217 Baer Road in Section 23, Town of Eaton – on July 21, 1943 Fred sold this farm to his son Fred Baer and his wife Dorothy Wolff – from Aug. 7, 1928 to Nov. 2, 1936 owned the 110 acre farm at 18908 Baer Road in Section 23, Town of Eaton –from Nov. 12, 1938 to April 28, 1948 owned the Sears and Roebuck house at 209 South Second Avenue in St. Nazianz
–died from "apoplexy –myocarditis") –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 2, Row 14, Lot 12 –stone]
