Living with the widowed Sophronia C. Davis, 62, in 1920 were Henry Davis, 26, Neal Davis, 24, Laura Davis, and lodgers Smith Sanders, 27, and Ida Sanders, 26.
Mrs. Davis died at a Houston sanatarium early Saturday morning, October 5, 1929, "after a brief illness following an operation." Survivors included sons: Prof R. F. Davis of Nacogdoches, 2 sons W. I. and T. O. Davis attorneys in Center, Dr. Neal Davis of Houston, Charles S. Davis of St. Paul, Minnesota (a journalist and publicist), John Henry Davis of Fort Worth (connected with the automotive industry), and James F. Davis, businessman of Vernon, TX; and 4 daughters: Mrs. S. A. Ellington of Center, Mrs. E. E. Hesser of Houston, Mrs. R. H. Homan of El Paso, and Miss Lucille Davis of Mexico City, a teacher in a college in Mexico.
