Winnie Davis was born and reared in Center. After her marriage to B. P. Downer, the couple resided at Bon Ami, LA. Mrs. Downer, 29, died in New Orleans following an operation on her throat. Her remains were brought to Center for burial, and funeral services were held at the home of her mother, Mrs. S. C. Davis on Shelbyville Street. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Survivors included her husband, mother, and several brothers and sisters.
